(a) This move was considered soiynd by all checker works until shown otheiwise m the American Checker Player, No. 2, Game No. 5. (b) Trying to work the game back into an old and popular line; 32 28 13 the proper move xo win.

(c) Mr Bugbee forgets his book play; 31 CG — a most unnatural looking move — is the piopcr play here. This (30 26) lo=ls.

(d) If 16 19 Mr Bugbee would have secured a draw neatly by 21 17, 13 20, 11 16. (b) Gives Black an opportunity for a little fancy play.

(p) This move surprised both Mr Bugbee and the onlookers. After examining, Mr £>ugbee remarked to the spectators that the player had blundered. It is not sound judgment to win in this style whrn the same result could be attained by a irmch simpler method, but it -was so pietty the editor could not resist.

(g) In making this move on ihe next round Mr Bugbee still held his first opinion. (n.) Mr Bugbee captured this way with a smile.

(i) This reply came quick and most unexpectedly.

(j) Resigning with a smile, Mr Eugbee remarked he did not see quite deep enough. The position as left is a well-known, win, and is called the '"First Position."
