The Treasurer on Saturday remitted to the Viceroy of India — kindly cabled free of exchange, as formerly, by the Bank of New Zealand — the sum of £3 000, making, with previous remittances, .£3500 sent in all from Dunedin. A very successful concert was held in tho Anderson's Bay Sunday School Hall on Friday, 11th, in aid of the Indian famine relief fund, the promoters being the Anderson's Bay Cricket Club. The chair was occupied by the Rev. A. Cameron. The piogiamme commenced with a minstrel entertainment, the parts being taken by members of the club. This proved very enjoyable. A piano solo by Mr Burrell, songs by Mrs Monkman, Misses Reid and Gallichan, and Mr J. Evans (encored) were all well received. Miss T. M'Donald ably recited '" The Ballad of Splendid Silence," and Mr D. M'Curdy gave an original recitation, " The Boys We Sent Away, both receiving encores. A comic song (" Last night") by Mr G. Kirkwcod, and a cbniic recitation (" Tim Hooligan's Mare ") by Mr G. Pressly were the cause of much enjoyment, encores being insisted upon. The programme concluded with a laughable farce, " The Irish Magistrate," the parts being ably sustained by members of the club, after; which the audience sang a verse of " God save the Queen." The above programme provided a splendid evening's entertainment, besides enabling the treasurer to hand the sum of £5 to the treasurer of the famine relief fund.

Miss Gertrude Watt, of Napier, has donated £100 to the fund for the assistance of fbe families of New Zealand killed or injured in. the South African war.
