By Onjujokek. May 19. The trotting horses Brockleigh and Frisetta, who are engaged at the Greytown meeting, went up to-day. J: O. Haywood, of Greytown North, who was piesent at the C'.J.C. Autumn meeting, pur--chafed -Mackintosh (Clanranald — Black Cloud). He --enter 3d him for the Flying Handicap at 'Ota'ki, but did not accept. ' The Blenheim ttotters, Dictator and Vaux■hall are to take part in the Metropolitan T.C. meeting 3\ Christchurch. Sweot Oil, by Petroleum, is the first of the piogeny of Esmeralda to win a race. The latter, by Crawfurd Priory — Whitau, was a smart tve-y ear-old, and wen the Masteiton-OpaKi Champagne Stakes. Allen (a roa.n pacer), who is engaged al the \Metiopolitan T.C. meeting, carries the 'B" j brand. When he started at Christchurch his owner signsd an aSadavit he was bred in this island. Loohin/ar, who his accepted for ihe Hurdles at Otaki, won three races at the Shannon meeting last month. - Josh Prosser journeys to Wanganui, where the stable will be represented by Black Dust, The Guard, and perhaps Osliaß. The lattar has a.lso been accepted for at Otaki; also Gobo, Sentry, and Moreze Sentry has not yet earned the Porirua colours. . Lady Undy (by Spitifeldt), who won two races -at Hastings and three at Petone, has been given *13.7 and 13.12 in two pony races at Greytown ]-on Queen' a Birthday. Wandering Jew, who j.won two pony races at Petone in the Spring . .and a hack race at Grej mouth, has got 12.12 and 13.0. Nora, the Auckland pony, is also well up in the handicaps. The best-performed trotters engaged are King of Munsler, St. James^ and Tlie General,

From a friend in Sydney I learn that it was intended to send Mr Backland's team of trotters across to Christchurch this month in charge of Claude Piper, but that they will not now come^cross till the spring. They were seen out at the jßathurst show this month, and were' I>retty successful. Velocity won the Two Mile Maiden Trot, and Daybreak (Vancleve — Moonbeam), sistei to Don Cleve, a back marker in Sydney, won the Po'iy Handicap Tiot. Daybreak, who is only 13.2, was giving stirts up to 80sec, and won easily flora Little Kate. The three-minute class trot was won by Valour; the grey stallion Harold Grey, Lord Harold — President Grant (imp.) inaie, second. The latter won the Final Handicap, two miles, receiving 22sec from Dr Slate's Silver Hue, who was second. Silver* Hue, who won at the Show grounds on New Year's Day, has shown good form at Sydney since returning home,- and ran third to Judge Huon (Huon — Arizona, imp.) and What in the 2.30 class, won in 2niin 32-Jsec. The going was heavy, and What was only just beaten, in the 2.45 class the stable companion Franz (brother to Fritz) and Valour finished first and second in 2min 31sec. ' Judge Huon received the award ioi best stallionj beating Vancleve, Franz, Huon, 'Prince, and Messenger. The last-named beat both Huon horses in the mile heats. Lady Agnes and Sweet Oil, who entered at both the G-reytown and Otaki meetings on Queen's Birthday, have accepted at the latter meeting. Sweet Oil will make her first appearance in a jumping race at Otaki, Louis Eobprtson went south yesterday with Bellman,_ Trafalgar, and Allen. He did not enter Motuiti at Chiistchurch. Allen has been badly -treated by Mv Brinkman in being handicapped as a 2.40 performer. His only perfoinunce was at Masterton, where, receiving 23sec from The General, he ran second in smm 44 2-ssee in a two mile race. This makes Allen outw orse than an even timer. Kenny M'Kenzie won one race at Ashburton, and hue gone on to Eunedin with Voltaire, Whario, acd Te T*aiaha. They are useful horses in their class.
