WOODSIDE.
May B.— Winter has now fairly set in, but considering the season of the year we have not as yet experienced any great severity of weather more than a few sharp frosts. The Roads. — The roads continue in a fairly good condition for the winter season. The contract of iorming the road from Mr Wilson's near West Taieri Church, to the creamery at Dowfield is being steadily gone on with, and will soon be completed.
Agricultural. — Threshing is now over in this neighbourhood. In some cases the yields have been up to expectations, but in -others the farmers have been greatly disappointed, especially in the wheat crops, owing, in a great measure, to the frosts we experienced before'harvest. Potato and turnip cropa are looking fairly well.
School Committee. — The annual meeting for tho election of a school committee for Woodside was held at the usual time and place, but the householders present failed to elect a committee, as no qualified person present ap peared willing to be nominated.
Lecture. — An interesting lecture on mission work in South America- was delivered in the mission hall. Woodside, on Tuesday evening last by Mr Thornton, and was listened to with great attention.
