THE WEEK'S DREDGING RETURNS.

Bunng the week ended Monday, 7th inst., returns were reported from the following 32 dredges, the total yield being 12570z 17dwt 9gr, or an average of 390z per dredge:

REPORTS FROM WORKING DREDGES. The Secretary of the Hartley and Eiley Beach Dredging Comppny (Limited) reports that the dredge washed up on Friday for a return of 2890z 7dwt of gold for a week's diedging. The Secrctaiy of the Inch Valley Gold Dredging Company (Limited) reports a return of 14oz 9dwt for 130 hours' dredging. The Secretary of the Matau Dredging Company (Limited) reports a return ol 6oz for six days. The dredge is stopped owing to the high state of the river. An electric lighting plant has been ordeied by the board, and will, it is expected, be in working order about two months hence. The Secretary of the Junction Electric Dredging Company reports a return from No. 2 dredge of 320z lOdwt. River still high. Mr J. J. Gibson, l_iawfence, reports a return from the Success of 15oz 4dwt for 133J hours. The Secretary of the Waimumu Extended Dredging Company reports a return of 18oz 3dwt 12gr for 139 hours. This is the first week's return since the dredge improvements were started three weeks ago, and the Dredgemaster reports that everything is working well. The Secretary of the Golden Beach Hydraulic Elevating and Dredging Company (Limited) reports that the dredgemaster wired as follows on Saturday: — " No wash up; repairing screen band and re-lipping buckets." The Secretary of the Clyde Dredging Company (Limited) reports a return of 18oz. The river is 6ft above the normal mark. The Dredgemaster reports having had great difficulty in working for the past week owing to a flood in the river. Prospects are, however, improving.

The Secretary of the Golden Point Dredging Convpai-vy (Limited) reports that, owing to the dredge being laid up for repairs, there was no wash, up for the past week.

The Secretary of the Maori Dredging Company reports a return for two days of Boz. For the rest of the week the dredge was repairing. The Secretary of the Waimurnu Dredging Company reports that the dredge washed up 21oz for five days' dredging.

The Secretary of the Vincent Dredging Company informs us that the return for last week was 48oz 14dwt. The Dredgemaster reports that the river was high all the week, and he had to leave part of the cut, as he could not bottom.
