FOURTEEN-MILE BEACH COMPANY. TO THE EDITOR.
„ Sir, — In your issue of the 3rd inst. I notice a report oi the extraordinary general meeting of the Foarteen-mile Beach Company, and a j shareholder's inquiry if it were true that theie j wculd bs a danger ot the stoppage ox the dredge by the water race being frozen up. L^aUo notice the chaiiman's plausible reply!* 1 ',!!' v shareholders will take the trouble to visit tile said water race during the next three months, say, from the middle of May to the middle of August, they will then see that the race is constiucted on "the shady side of the range underneath high banks and overhanging rocks, and will be sble to judge for themselves whether or not the race will not be frozen over, and coiitiime to be so, more or less, in ?ny ordinary winter. I am given to understand in the early stage of the construction of this race the mistake was pointed out, either to the secretary of the company or to some of its directors. — I am, etc., Dunedin, May 4. Oke Interested.
