MACRAES.
April 30. — The weather continues to be verj anild for this time of the year, and the green crops are everywhere a success. The grain has all been got together in good order, and now awaits the mill, which will be here in a week or two.
Social. — A very pleasant farewell social was held in the schoolhouse, Macraes, on Friday evening, to bid good-bye to Miss Trayes, who lias held the position of head teacher here Io; the past three years. The late chairman ot the school committee occupied the chair, ancl spoke for some considerable time in the most eulogistic terms of Miss Trayes. Her admirable force of character, combined with her amiable disposition, said, the chairman, enabled) Miss Trayes to make her presence felt. ifi. thjj^
advancement of soc.ely. Her educational powers were of no mean order, and her knowledge of kunan nature mace her a born educator. Several others spoke in the same stiain, after which sojgs and recitations were indulged in, and refreshments handed lound, and after a general handshaking everyone went 3 -way well /satisfied that they had spent a most enjoyable evening.
