PUBLICATIONS RECEIVED.

' The Windsor Magazine for March is an excellent number,- opening with a very well illustrated paper oh "The Mecca Pilgrimage " ; "Up and Down a Mexican Volcano " is another interesting article, and " Where Tommy's Weapons Are Made" yet another. Q,ther articles pleasantly qualify the fiction of the number, which is fairly good, though Mr Boothby's " Long Live the King," both in matter and illustration, is decidedly not worthy the place of leading serial. ThV-Pall Mall Magazine is, as usual, most gratifying to the eye. A very noticeable article, as' showing the possibilities of artistic charm to be reached by pen and camera in unison, is " Our Wood," by Barrington MacGregor. " Reminiscences of the Zulu War, 1870 " is an interesting article, as also is that on " The Paris Exhibition, 1900." There are several other well written and beautifully illustrated articles, and the fiction, headed by Mrs Steele's Indian story, " The Hosts of the Lord," is excellent. A coloured drawing of '"Spring" constitutes the frontispiece.

Then follow directories of Lyttleton, Timain, and Chrislchurch, street by street. After these come an alphabetical list of the householders and business firms of the province, with addresses; and a directory of trades and professions, and educational and local Government directories, with handy information about each local government district; a Hst of sheep-farmers with their tallies, and much other useful information. The directory was printed at the office of the Otago Daily Times and Witness Company (Limited), and bound by the Evening Star Company (Limited).
