VINCENT JOCKEY CLUB
The annual general meeting of the Vincent' Jockey Club was held on the 21st April, when there was a fair attendance (Mr Pitches in rhe chair) . The Dunstan Times reports : — The balance sheet, showing a credit balance of £531, was adopted as read. Proposed by Air Hawson — '' That the annual races be held' oiii January 1 and 2."' Seconded by Mr White and .carried. Mr Clare proposed — "That the prize money be raised £100, making it £500." After a lengthy discussion, Mr Clare withdrew Ins motion, and Mr Moran proposed— The sum be raised to £450."' Seconded by Mr White and carried. — The following officebearers were appointed: President, Mr Pitches (re-elected) ; vice-presidents, Messrs Laidlaw and Jack ; starter, a ballot was taken, resulting in Mr M'Skimming being appointed ; clerk of course, Mr O'Hara : clerk of scales, Mr Geo. Naylor ;' totalisator steward, Mr Geo. Fache j timekeeper, Mr Hawson ; secretary. Mr T. Dugg&u : lueasur'er, Mr Hawson : handieapper. Mr D. Moran ; Programme Committee— Messrs J. Clare, W. Jack. J. Harley, D. Moran, G. Naylor, W. Martin, and the secretary ; auditor, Mr W. Pierce. All members to be stewards. Several new members were elected. Mecsrs Murreil and Solomon were appointed to work the totalisator. After discussion, a ballot was taken to decide whether the Trial Stakes should include Tuapeka County, which resulted in (hat county being included. Mr Ilawsoia proposed— " That the other district races remain the same as last year." Seconded by M- Martin and carried. — Resolved — "That all horses that have never won more than £10 be allowed to start in the Trial Stokes." Resolved — "That the secretory be appointed to arrange terms with Mr M'Skimming for the starting."— lt was unanimously .resolved the auditor be granted a bonus oi £1 Is for services rendered. Proposed by Mr Clare — "That the secretary be granted a bonus of £10 for his very valuable services." Seconded by Mr Moran and carried unanimously. — Mr Dugan, in returning thanks, faid that he felt pleased that the club appreciated his services, and trusted thafc they would continue to pull together, and thus m-ike the ensuing season a successful one. Resolved — "That .Mr Geo. Naylor be made a lifp member." Resolved— " That the handieapper be paid the sum of £7 75."
