AROUND THE SOUNDS.
Mr and Mrs J. E. James celebrated their golden wedding recently at Hawthorn, NorthEast Valley. They arrived in New Zealand in 1842 and 1843 respectively, came to Otago in 1862, and have resided here up to the present time. There are eight of their family — five sons and three daughters — living, and 22 grandchildren. Mr and Mrs James were married at the residence of the late Sir "William and Lady Fox, Archdeacon Hadfleld being the minister, and strange to say there is only one. survivor of all who were present on that occasion.
