THE WEATHER.

The cold snap which has been experiencedin Dunedin at Jie end of last week was particularly severe inland. .. Our Wakatipu correspondent wired on Friday: — "This (Friday) morning showed another face of' • snow, covering the whole district with a layer several inches thick at the lowest level, and proportionately thicker at the higher elevations. The snow now on hand is sufficient, to cause a large flood in the 'Molyneux, should a mild rain follow, which is not improbable at this time of the year. In any case dredgemasters upon the Kawarau and Molyneux had better keep their ' weather eye ' open, for the. state of the river for the next few days depends entirely upon the. rate at .which the snow disappears. Considering the state' of the temperature and the quaiitity of enow, the chances lean to the probability "of more rain, and consequently of floods. ' Our reporlev who is accompanying the Minister of Mines on his tour informs us that it is feared that the crops on the Crown Terrace have been very much injured by the severe weather. There was snow on Mount Cargill and Maungatua oh Friday. . CHRISTCHUKCH, April 27.- ; '_ Heavy rain fell in North Canterbury during the whole of this afternoejn, and in the back country there was a heavy fall of t snow. - In some placed the snowstorm extended for a considerable distance down the plains. INVEROAKGILL. April 27. The weather is broken, with cojd rain, sleet, and hail. Snow has fallen inland. There is a good deal of crop still out. *
