Winchester, April 30. — As promised, I send you a little retrospect of the seasons (just closed) doings. I quote Langdqn's figures as contained in his register : — 18?9. Fish. "Weigh*. October 4r7 ... -tf-lb Nov. mber 674 ... S29lh December 6 9 ... 7981b ]900. Janvary 407 ... 78Slb February 561 ... 10991b March 414 ... 53'Ub April ... • 313 ... 2501b 3315 '.'.'. 47261b: There were comparatively few stranger anglers you a little retrospect of the season's (iust of fish, little was attempted with the fly. With the minnow large quantities of splendid fish were taken in the lowei Opihi, while the Rangitata, unusually free from heavy flushes, afforded good sport. The largest fish taken from the former rivei was a 23-poundei- secured by Mr Ward, of Geraldine. ?vlr Sugden, from the same locality, made pome excellent baskets from the Opihi, his largest fish being 18£lb. Perhaps the prettiest basket taken with the fly was one of 20, weighing 321b, taken i the Opuha by'Mr C. M'Culloch, of Ballarat, Australia. It is good-bye, rods, now for five months, but tho writer will be glad to continue sending his little reports when we reach October 1, 1900.

On the night of April 22 Mr George Ward, of Geraldine, made a magnificent catch of fish in the Opihi, below the lower ford. In all he took six fish of 66£lb weig*ht, and weighing, respectively, 51b, 6|lb, 91b, 111b, 121b, an'l 231b. The fish -were taken between dusk on the 22nd and 4 o'clock the next morning, the 23-pounder being a regular beauty. — Timaru Herald.

Mi Gaw still holds a winning piscatorial hand. On Wednesday evening he and Mr Dodd had an hour's sport on the Mimih.au — result : Mr Dodd 5 fish, Mr Gaw 7 ; average weight, 21b to 2ilb.— Wyndham Farmer, 27th. Messrs A. Cockroft and D. Nicholas had a very successful day's angling in the Oreti River at Bemnore on Saturday last (says the Winton Record). The former's basket contained 75 fish, of nice size and condition, Mr Nicholas having 50 in his, the catch representing six hours' iishing.
