OBITUARY.

Anothei* old resident of Port Chalmers passed away, in his seventieth year, on Friday evening in the person of Mr Robert Bauchop, a highly-esteemed citizen. The deceased gentleman for many years has carried on a saw and timber mill at the Port. Although he took no active interest in municipal matters, he was prominent in all good works, and for some thirty-five years has filled the office of senior deacon of the Congregational Church at the Port. Mr Bauchop was a keen musician, and inaugurated the first Port Chalmers band. He was also the oldest Past Master (made in it) of the Port Chalmers Marine Lodge, No. 94-2, E.C., and for the last twenty years hns filled the position of Chaplain of the Zealandia Marine Lodge of Mark Master Masonss. Both lodges will deplore his death. Mr Bauchop was one of the founders of Court Robin Hood, A.0.F., and held the position of Past Ckief Ranger. The deceased gentleman leaves a widow, four sons and three daughters. The third son is Lieutenant Arthur Bauchop, of the Foitrth New Zealand Contingent, now on its wav to South Africa. The eldest son is Dr William Bauchop, of Tuapeka. Great sympathy is felt for Mrs Bauchop.

Bishop Verclon has appointed Sunday, the 29th April next, the day for the consecration and opening of the Ranfurly Catholic Church. He will be assisted by several priests. Father Murphy, of Dunedin, will preach in the morning and Father O'Neill, of Milton, in the 6V<§mog.
