When the mistake was rectified, and -^he horses were again at the post, the machine broke down, and by the time it was repaired the race had started, and there was only £1 on the machine, backing Maybsll, which was refunded. A great battle home between the pair iesu'ted in a dead-heat, while the riderless St. Peter, who had dislodged his jockey at the start, finished next, with Cavalier fourth.
