To a hare that would iiot at fiist £o straight the favourite was slightly favoured, and, drawing out a clear length, made short work by going half round with Ins game and knocking it over. 11 to 4on Money Bag. The favourite, in a long stretch, led up a couple of lengths, and for some time had matters all his own way, the fawn palpably holding off. Money Bag, hov>--ever, at last quite compounded, and the fawn setting to work in grand style, a raie hare enabled her to turn ths tables before they disappeared over the bank. 3 to 1 on Genetive, who stretched out a long two lengths for first turn, at which she ran out a little as puss broke short to the left. Animosity shot up for the second, but as puss broke round forward again the led collar instantly resumed possession, and after three nice points, finished a good performance with a smart kill.
2tol on Wild Irish Lad. From a pretty slip the favourite led a length and a-half. and made a fine point by shooting clean lound thj black for second turn. Still keeping good possession, he made a strong start before both fell as pussy doubled. Bleng Tongue finished the course, but was decisively beaten.
6t04 on Dick Burge. The favourite looked like leading for the first 100 yds, but Border •Song then began to catch him, and gradually forging ahead, scored the turn with an advantage 'of a couple of lengths. Going round smartly he kept his place for the second, from which Dick obtained possession and made a good effort. 13 to Bon Mrs G-umdy. Ths Scotoh bitch drew out nearly three lengths for first turn, at which puss came sharp back. A niomentaiy exchange resulted before the black got well placed for three short points ere Mis Grundy settled accounts with the death.
sto 2 oil Peregiine Pickle. After leading for some distance, the favourite would have lost the run up but for the hare coming to his side. They both got on the wrong side of the diain as pitss broke round, but the luck was all with the favourite, and he looked very like winning. A good hare, however, brought about his collapse, and Cherry Whisky having a strong finish, including the death, backers received a knock-down blow, which was to be followed by so many others during the day.
5 to 1 on Father o' Fire. The favourite stretched ahead fully four lengths, and for some time had matters all his own way. The red collar at last began to contest the course, but Father o' Fire, resuming a- forward position, won virtually unchallenged, though he got plenty of it.
5t04 on Happy Position. It .was a good race until puss bore away to the left, which enabled Hax^py Position to go up well in front. He, however, ran the faster afterwards and in a better style than the black, winning a capital trial in one-sided fashion.
5t04 on Get Hold. White Ivory looked like leading for some distance, but after a good tussle Get Hold jiist squeezed up for the turn. White Ivoiy got a ohance as ptiss bioke short to the left, but the black -was too smart for him in a short working spin, and was a clever winner as the white made a catch kill.
13 to 8 on Glenarlie The favourite was a little favoured for his head of two lengths, but he won decisively afterwards, Dombey i tinning in very loose fashion. ,7to 4on Gutta Pereha. In a good race the non-favourite was a length the faster, and held clever possession for a smart opening. Gutta Percha was veiy busy towards the finish, but was well beaten.
15 to Bon Lavishly Clothed. For a stride or two the black was in fiont, but the favourite in a nice stretch drew out a couple of lengths, and though the hare broke from her, she shot away much more smartly than her opponent,
ist instantly settled accounts with a
and almci good kill.
>n Winter Pa:
stime, who led a. length and a-half ior first turn, at which Millions was the qu.cker round, and quickly killed — undecided". Xext time it was 2tol on Winter Past.me It was now a desperate lacs to the hare, thp non-favourite just squeezing up. Winter ± ) as 0:112 g came round for the second point, afxer v.-li.^h they exchanged naeriily, Millions Having .1 bit the best of it. A terrific course followed, and though Millions won without much to spare, Winter Psstime never had fairly the best of it.
5 to 4 on Hap-oy Prospect, who led nearly three lengths, and won in most decisive fashion. Lapal gave quite an indifferent display, though she dashed past smartly enough at the finish to wrench and kill.
6t04 on Countess Ufiston. The favourite led a couple of lengths, and kept her place smarmy for the second turn. Paramount Po,\3r then made a nice ofiort, but the black was much tco smart for him in a short &mn, which "the Countess" finished with the death.
6 to 4 o.i Happy Land, who stretched out with a long lead, and won so decisively at first that the other's better finish did ixot affect the result.
2to 1 or. Gimcrack. The favourite stretched up five 'engths in froat, and though he swept out as puss came round, giving the Irish dog^ a nice chase, Gimcraek's extra speed enabled him to soon be in front again, and though he compounded in a long course, he left off with a good balance in hand.
2 to 1 on Hia;h Cieclentials. The favourite led three lengths for first turn, and though Chosen took smait possession as puss came round, the white collar soon displaced her, and, running the faster throughout a pummng course, won a stoutly-contested tiial with plenty to spare.
7t02 on George Tincler. The non-favourite drew away between three and four lengths for first turn, but lost his place as pus's broke back, and George Tincler scored several driving points before New Melody resumed possession. "George" then raced past, and, keeping his place in front, looked like still winning until New Melody returned the go-bye ond maintained the lead, this quite placing the issue out of doubt.
2tol on Fearless Footsteps. It was a good battle for three-parts of the run up. though neanng pussy the black drew out a length and a-half for the turn, but ths hare broke sharp back. Plume shot away in possession for a couple of smart draws before losing her place, and Fearless Footsteps then went on for a useful sequence. Plume, -however, finished decidedly the stranger, and when she ako killed she was only just beaten.
5t04 on Bradley Fold. After an undecided, in which Meols Globe led a long way, the betting veered to 2t03 on him. He led for some distance, but Bradley Fold struggled past for first turn, and in a good trial the fielders were rejoiced by again seeing the odds decisively upset.
6t05 on Hesper. Blackheath, always going the faster, led up between two and three lengths, and though Hesper contested the latter points of a capital trial, he received a most severe licking.
11 to 3on Resound. After a good race the favourite drew to the fiont, and puss bearing to her side, she was two lengths in advance as she scored the turn. Cousin Mary was the smarter, as puss broke short round by the right, and had a nice sequence before Resound joined issue, and quickly came to grief m the drain. 'Coasjn Mary now nad a long, meritorious innings, and though Resound, upon iejomi?ig, had distinct' y the ber-t of it, there was a considerable balance in Cousiii Mary's favour.
7t04 on Whitacre. It wa& a fine race up the Withins, All Serene, under a little favour, struggling hard for the lead, but Whitacre, on the outside, just forged ahead, and settled accounts st once wnh a smart kill.
5t02 on Dear Westwood. West Australia led up a length and a-half, but the red collar took possession at the turn, and quite outworked the puppy thioughout a capital trial.
6t04 on Long Glass. The favourite went up nearly two lengths in front, but lost her place at the turn, and Red Fury, putting together a smart sequence, was a clever winner when Long Glass shot xip for the death.
3tol on Black Fury. From a pretty slip the non-favourite zoca forged ahead, and gridunlly drawing out scored a turn between two and three lengths in front. Being quicker than the crack as puss came lound, she kept her place, and a rattling trial, in which every opportunity was given, may be briefly described by saying that the outsider won eveiy yard of the way. lam not sure that Black Fury even made a single point. He was once m front, but I think the bitch got past him before he reached the haie.
7t04 on Mister O'Shea. After -starting the slower, the favourite fairly forged past and gained the turn by nearly a length. He lost his place, ho<ve^er, as x^uss bioke short round, and the blue, setting to work in really good style, quickly ran up a, telling sequence. Mister O'Shea then made a fine point in drawing past for possession, but he instantly lost it as puss broke round, and Piescot meanwhile added to his score. The puppy now again made a determined effort, and continuing to have the best of it until the death, was defeated but not disgraced.
11 to Bon Prince Falcon. Whilst always just going the faster, Prince Falcon could only get up a length and. a-half in front, and in a capital working course Backslider made a good fight. At one point, indeed, he held what looked like a wrong laosition, but the white collar drew to the front towards the finish, and a good sequence landed him a clear winner.
2 to 1 on Pike Law. The last-named " stretched up with a long lead o£ between four and five lengths, but he made a mess of it as pusfc came short round, and in a rattling trial Anstrude had afterwards all his own way, the south-country dog showing his usual cleverness and perseverance.
5t04 on Judge Hawkins. Being quickly on his toes, the favourite rattled up nearly, three lengths in front, but Seidlita took possession as piiss came round, and with a couple of wrenches and the death brought the cap off. Next time the odds fell from 31 to 10, md the lead was reversed. Seidlitz going up two lengths in front and having all his own way in a short spin. Judge Hawkins this time made a s)?ock-< ing display.

3tol on Hawthorn VI. The favourita . quickly showing his heels, rattied out between ' thiee and four lengths for first turn, and Jiolding nice possession, made a capital beginning. His hard-run opponent, after warming up, made a wonderful fight, but the course ended with a considerable balance still against her. 6t04 on Genetivo. It was a great struggle ' in tli o run up, Wi'd Irish Lad at last gaining the turn by a neat length. Genetive being the smarter as puss broke to the left, swept round for the second, and held her place for the third. Exchanges followed, and then, in a ding-dong trial, won and lost twice over, ie looked as though Genetive would win, her sequences being a little the .stronger. The puppy, however, never flinching, two or three timea drey/ to the front as they had a stretch, and al&o finishing the stronger, the flat, deservedly ■went up m Ills favour. 5t04 on Border Song. hi a pretly race Mrs Grundy -went a shade the faster until close to tiie hare, when Border Song spurted to tha front and gamed the initial -point by nearly a length. He cut out as puss broke round", and Mrs Grundy sweeping on ths scut, monopolised the remainder of a short spin, winding up a clipping performance with a good kill. 7t04 on Cherry Whisky. Father o' Fire diopped into the rea. 1 soon after leaving slips, and Cherry Whisky widening the gap, went up three lengths in front and held his place. Father o' Fire then made a bit of a show, but could never look dangerous, the souUi-country representative winning a capital course in onesided fashion.
7t04 on Get Hold. Happy Position starting dead slow, the favourite stretched-, away * fully four lengths for the first turn and made a good beginning. - Happy Position then began to contest the course, but could never make any impression upon the black's strong start. 7t04 on Why Wonder. After a good xace the non-favourite led a length, and sticking well to. his work, continued to have much' the. best of it. Why Wonder at last took a good position, and the issue began to -look doubtful until Gienarlie pgain drew to the front, this' making him a clear winner. 5 to 1 on Lavishly Clothed, who led hei: han-' dicapped opponent three lengths, and won a good trial in decisive fa&hion.
6t05 on Happy Prospect. Countess TJdsion drew out a goofl two lengths for first turn, and though she lost her place as puss broke to the left, she quickly again shot to the front, and won a short spin in decisive fashion, finishing with a sniait kill.
2tol on Happy Laird. After beginning the slower, Gimcrack, in a Jong stretch, led fully, three lengths, and though he lost his place at the turn, he soon again joined iss\ie, both running indifferently. Happy Land then began to have decidedly the best of it, asd had the course well won until Gimcrack obtained a forward position, and finished with several wrenches and a good kill. New Melody ran a bye, High Credentials being diawn, on account of his severe course in the opening- round.
5t02 on Fearless Footsteps. The favourite gradually foi-ged out three lengths for first turn, and sweeping away in fine possession, made a nice start. Bradley Fold, in desperation, rushed up for possession, but the efforts pavised her to cut out, the blac> winning a good trig! in uios'. decisive fashion.
7t04 on Blackheath. In a good stretck wj» the Withins the favourite drey. out thsae lengths, and commanding his hare in gesd style, never allowed Cousin Mary to sosej finishing a good performance with a smart &11.
11 to 4on Whitacre. The non-f avoastle,, quickly showing in advance, drew out a Y&g two lengths for fvrst turn, but swept out very wide as puss came round. Whitacre instantly took smart possession, but as puss broke clear the black's pace again took her to the front. As at the first turn : however, she was soon a bii loose, and- when Whitacre finished with a SHiars kill there was desperately little between them.
6 to 5 on Rare Luck. From another fine slip the pair raced neck and neck for a considerable distance, but Rare Luck drew out a couplo o£ lengths at the finish, and held nica possession for the second point. Red Fury then made a bit of a show, but the brindled was soon at work again, and was a decisive winner as Red Fury, killed.
3" to lon Prescot. It was a fine tussle for $ctne distance, but the non-favourite, shaking off his opponent, drew out a coxiple of lengths dior first turn, and came cleverly round for the next point. The blue then made a shot to the front, but cut out as puss came round, and '' the Prince," sticking steadily and cleverly to (work, the big odds were once more floored in paiobt decisive fashion. 9t04 on Seidlitz. The favourite stretched away four lengths from his handicapped op.'{ponent, and sustaining plenty, of fire, had all ■ihis own way for some time. Anstrude then ([began to contest the course, but the black ran istrong to the finish, and won a capital trial in ■jone-sided fashion, puss escaping at the sough.
Thied Round. ■Hawthorn VI beat Wild Irish Lad. Caeriy Whisky beat Mrs Grandy. ■Get Hold beat Glenarlie. Lavishly Clothed beat Countess Udston, Gimcrack beat New Melody. Fearless Footsteps beat Blackheath. CRare Luck beat Dear Westwood.
•Prince Falcon beat Seidlitz. 2 to 1 on Hawthorn VI. * In a good stretch Jdawthorn VI rapidly drew away 'from his oproonent, scoring the first point nearly five fiengths in front. Commanding his hare well, fee made a strong beginning, and though the ioiipsy, warming up, made a bold show in the jaiiddie of the course, Hawthorn Vl's closing <points and good kill landed him the easiest of winners.
' 7t04 on Mrs Grundy. In a pretty race Qtfrs Grundy' gradually drew nearly clear of .Cherry "Whisky, and though the latter then {began to draw to her, the bitch squeezed up ior the first turn- Sweeping beautifully -with •her hare, she kept her place for the second and laird points, but as puss broke clear Cherry .iWklsky drew to the ftont, and, defying Mrs ■y-rundy's efforts to displace him, had 3ust turned the tables when he inished with a good 11 to 4on Get Hold. Beginning better than Gienarlie, the black was quickly a clear length in front, but the white then began to catch her, and had drawn level as they reached the drain pretty close to the hare. Get Hold here shot cut from her enponent, gaining the turn by a length, and the' trial from this point was quite oiie-sided, the black entirely outmatching her opponent for smaitness and making a capital display. 5t04 on Lavishly Clothed. It was a dmg<lon°- struggle for a considerable distance, but puss bearing to the right at the finish, Countess "Udston was first up and came round well in possession until she blundered at the dram. Lavishly Clothed thereupon instantly took up a forwardrposition. and with two or three smait points and the kill, brought the cap off. An arrangement was then made in Lavishly Coined' s favour. 15 to 8 oa Gimcrack. -The favourite drew out between two and three lengths for first .■turn, and though he gave plenty of openings, ihis extra pace enabled him to always keep a jbalance in hand, New Melody'finishing with the <ieath. , j 11 to 10 on Blackheath. The last-named hanging in the slip, Fearless Footsteps instantly showed clear, and, widening the gap, me went up nearly three lengths in front. Coming .smartly round whilst the white collar blun'der«d, Fearlesa Footsteps again shot up well 'ahead, and won a shortish -spin in one-sided rfashion. .1 to 4on Earo Luck. Gradually^ forging dlread, the brindlftd drew out a. couple 01 lengtns 1-t.or fust turn, and, coming nicely round, she iuleld a good position for the nest two pomta. ,Dear Westwooa now momentarily showed m £ront, but flare Luck, lunning in not-to-be-cenied style, soon resumed position and finished a. one-sided and smart victory with the death. , 6t04 on Prince Falcon. It was a grand Sace to the hare, but Prince Falcon, always going a shade the faster, gained the turn oy a good length, and made a clever movement a* £is hare. Seidlitz soon joined issue, avd for !che nest few points the course was stoutly congested. Prince Falcon, however, always liad n, foit in hand and was a meritorious winner wren Seidlitz killed.
Fourth Bound.
hawthorn VI beat Cherry Whisky. "Lavishly Clothed beat Get Hold. .•S'earless Footsteps beat G-imcrack. !rD rince Falcon beat Rare Luck. 6to 4 on Cherry Whisky. The non-fa-vou">-ite, very quick 011 his toes, was almost- instantly clear, and, going the faster throughout, iscoied the turn, fully two lengths m advance. Going round smartly, he maintained a clear lead for the second point, and though tnerry ■Whisky then for a- moment showed in iionfc, •Hawthorn VI quickly regained possession and all through a capital trial evinc?d aeoidcd 'superiority. The course ended a,fc the bank be■Mnd the slipoer's screen, near where Fullerton and FitzFife* finished their memorable course. , , ] 6t04 on Get Hold. In a pretty stretch i Lavishly Clothed went a shade the faster, and *-was nearly clear when puss began oearmg a (little to the left, and the black, closing tip, .■was quite level as the hare bore round by the right. The fawn, sweeping away in fine style, then shot -ilia well ahead for the first point, bt^t 'Get Hold quickly joined issue as puss broke to | ihe loft, and a smartly-run working course was | desperately contested. The result almost hung in the balance until the fawn made a fine finish by sweening past and killing. •9 to -1 on Fearless Footsteps. Gimcrack ' Parting dead slow, the favourite rapidly ?n»de ; a gap, and reached her hare, fully four lengths in front. She quickly added the second and -third points, when the brindled broke her sermence, but the black was immediately at work again, and was a one-sided winner when Gimcrack killed. ' 11 to 10 on Rare Luck. It was a hne race lor sixty or eighty yards, but Prince Falcon " then gradually forged ahead, and scored the ! first point a length and a-half in front. , Puss thereupon shifting to tho left, Rare Luck instantly shot to tho front, and with a wrencn and kill brought the cap off. Hare Luck was j afterwards drawn by arrangement. Fifth Eotjnd. Lavishly Clothed beat Hawthorn VI. fearless Footsteps beat Prince Falcon. €tos on Hawthorn VI. The last-named, be'nnning a little the quicker, had drawn nearly clear in the first 100 yds, but Lavishly Clothed then, "began to close up, and the haie bearing in her favour at the finish, she was enabled to gain the turn. Sweeping grandly on the £cut as puss completed the circle by the right, she would have gone clean round her opponent but for a slight cannon. Hawthorn VI thereby Tvent up for the next point, but the bitch regained possession as the hare again shifted, End made a pretty effort. A ding-dong, grandlycontested trial followed, Hawthorn VI doing all he knew, but the bitch was sweeping with fcer hare in beautiful style several times, keeping her place on the outside, and though Hawthorn VI finished strongly, and finally ffloored a rare hare, there was a strong balance against him. The duration of the "course was <1S 2-ssec.
,9to 4on Fearless Footsteps. Beginning *vith a rattle, the favourite quickly obtained a lead of two lengths, but Prince Falcon then tnore than held his own, being a length and i-half behind as the hare circled short to the {eft. This was severely against Prince Falcon, Imd the black circling smaitly with her game Instantly floored a weak hare. This course Only la&ted 14 3-ssec.
Deciding Course. ,Mr J. H. Bibfcy us Hc&ns Fawcett's bk b fearless Footsteps, by Fabulous Fortune— Fills
de Feu, beat Duke of Leeds's f b Lavishly Clothed, by Fabulous Fortune—lrish Queen, j 9t04 on Fearless Footsteps. From a splen- " did delivery to a trimming hare they raced I neck and neck for 80 or 90 yards, when the j favourite shook off her opponent, and also being a bit the smarter at the drain, gained the turn by a length and a half. Commanding her hare j well, she madd a fine start, but Lavishly Clothed j took possession at the first opening and quickly i gave a different aspect to the course. So grandly did the fawn sweep with her game that she haci the trial well won at one point. She failed, however, to finish it, and Fearless Footsteps ai last getting an opening, shot to j the front and scored thrice before giving the coup de grace. It was a grand trial for a final, and closely balanced. The duration of the course was 36 4-ssec. i
