SALE OF PASTORAL PROPERTY.

"Wri"ht, Stephcnson, and Co. report having sold at Pj very satisfactory price, on account of Mr H. 31. Spencer. Ins Etalvale station, Nightcaps, to lilr Roderick M'J£enzie, of Blackmount. Etalvale contains about 10,600 acres of splendid ymstocal country, and it is held under a lease* from the Otagon School Commissioners for a term of years expiring in 1509. It is very highly ir-iprovf-d, and everything is in first-class older. The briVinscs pre most complete, snri consist of flood dwelling horse, stables, woolfhed, men's huts, etc , and there is also some 23 miles o£ subitintial fencing on the place. Mr M'Kenzie is to bs congratulated upon his piirchase.

— The Royal HiimanG Society, in their repoit; for last year, state that 756 persons distinguished themselves by saving 659 livas and in trying to save 71- others. The society presented nine silver medals, 154 bronze medals and clisps — the latter being for a second act of bravery bs^ a. medal-holder — 520 vellum or parchment testimonials, and 55 pecuniary rewards of^ varying amounts.
