Third Day-Monday, March 26.

Perfect weather prevailed on Monday, when the third day's racing in connection with the I Dunedin Jockey's Club's Autumn meeting took place afWingatui. There was also a fairly good attendance, and the course looked beautiful. Messrs Mason and Roberts put £5390 , through the tolalisator during the clay, as against £6363 handled by them on the third day of last Autumn mooting. The total in- : vestmonts for the meeting just elo&ed I amounted to £16,931 ; those for the fixture held this time last year amounting to £20,005. Seabreeze &till held command at the next hurdle, but shortly after the hurdle was negotiated Dundee and Clmker ranged almost alongside of the leader, and the three kept close company to the hurdle at the end of the back stretch. Dundee outjumped the other two over the hurdle, but Seabreeze soon recovered ground, and led round the top turn into the 'straight. Seabreeze fell at the hurdle at the entrance to the stiaight, leaving Dundee in command, with Clinker close by him. A good race then ensued home, Dundee winning by about tliree-quaiters of a length. About a furlong from home Maremma, going well, passed the leader, who was also passed by Red Banner, and the former, being kept at it, won a good lace by a little more than a length. This oicler remained much the same till well down the j straight. Nihilist then came with a great bat, and passed Brisa within fifty yards fiom home. Almost immediately afterwards the mare was passed in rapid succession by Fulmen and Jupiter, Mr Boreland's horse coming with a tremendous rush from a position in the rear and being only beaten by Nihilist by a length. Hounding the turn La Kerne increased her lead by about a couple of lengths from My Lord and The Serf, and when the straight was reached the two last-mentioned had a slight lead of Grandshot and Bracken; Visionary, Witchcraft, and Sally bringing up the rear division. At the top end of the straight My Lord and The Serf died away, and weie passed by Bracken. Sally shortly afterwards came with a rush from the rear, and passing the rest of the field challenged Lr, Heine, who, however, succeeded in beating her by three-quarters of a length. At the conclusion of the race the owner of Premier protested against the stakes being paid over to Plan on the ground that he galloped past the -post. The stewards, however, dismissed the protest, b.eing of opinion that it was not a wilful gallop.
