LAWN TENNIS.

The Otago Lawn Tennis Club's courts looked very gaj' on the 17th, when a match was played against the Kaituna Club. Play started at 2.30, and as 18 sets had to be finished during the afternoon, the courts were not allowed to remain vacant. The events were carried through without hitch, thanks to the efforts of Messrs "Ward (Otago) and Payne (Kaituna). The games were all keenly contested, some of the men's singles being particularly exciting. During the afternoon a large number of visitors were present, who showed their appreciation of the good play by unstinted applause. The honours in the Men's Singles were fairly even, but in the other events Otago .outclassed their opponents. "When scores were counted up it was found that Otago had won by 149 games to 74.
