THE DREDGING INDUSTRY.

The statements of affairs of a number of gold dredging companies in Otago, showing the quantity of gold won, the expenditure, dividends paid, &c, have been published. The list given below is far from representing the whole of the dredges at work during last year, as up to the present private companies and partnerships have displayed no haste in complying with the law by furnishing returns, but as 32 companies carrying on operations during last year are represented, some idea may be gathered of the importance of the industry to the community at large :—: —
