I NAPIER, February 13. The Hatuma case commenced, de novo, at the Compensation Court to-day. Mi" • Logan applied for the discharge of Mr Guild, the Government assessor, on the ground that he had before his appointment expressed an opinion that the estate ■was not worth ike amount as-Iced for -it. Mr Justice Edwards, in refusing the application, said the act was eminently unsatiV factory. It placed at the head of the court a Supreme Court judge who knew nothing of the value of land, and to asskti him two assessors — one appointed by each 1 party, — and a quasi advocat of the party's cause.
