The Empire of the Oceans boasts of loyal volunteers, Who love the Mother Country, and who share her hopes and fears • Tho' fecatteicd far and wide, they are united by the bond Of common, right, humanity, throughout a Christian land! Oh! our men have gone away, And there's some that's gone to stay; But it matters not one little jot, as far as I can sec; For they have gone to fight for honour, home, and liberty ! Zealandia and Australia join hand in hand to fight With India and Canada for dear old England's right! And above Britannia's children floats the undai'nted Union Jack! Whilst, nations stand all fearful of the family attack. Oh! our men have gone away, etc. When the bugle sounded for the fight, Great Britain learned her strength. — Her colonies with girded loins, and aimed throughout their length, Claimed but a share of glory, all responding to a man ; . To wia a jewel, rich and rare, for Freedom's diadem ! Oh! our men have gone away, etc. Tho' scattered far and wide, flic British Empire rules the waves ; She holds the battlefield as well — built up on heroes' graves' Our fathers the foundation of the fabric laid with blood — Ourselves, oiu son.^ shsll build it pioof against the direst flood.
