DRAUGHTS ITEMS.
" The American Checker Player." — A new magazine under this title has just been published at Boston. It is edited by the wellknown Mr A. J. Heffner, one of the strongest players 111 the States. The first number is a creditable production, and we wish the venture everj success. As a frontispiece there is a capital portrait of the editor himself. There is a good deal of play on the " Black Doctor," and the news notes are interesting. R. Atwell v. A. Jordan. — This match, which is being played in London, stands at latest advices — Atwell, 1 ; Jordan, nil ; drawn, 4. Th English Tournament of 1900 to be held in London at Easter, will be watched with the utmost interest by draughts players all over the world, for the contest will be made, on a large scale, a test of the time-limit rule in thai country.
