GAMES.

Mr H. Morrall contributes to the Liverpool Mercury the following games, which were played between him and Mr Cain in the recent match for the championship of Liverpool. The notes are by Mr Morrall: — Gams 5915.—"Ke15e."

(a) On the conclusion of the game Mr S. Davies said that Mr Cain had missed a win by not playing 6 9 here. The suggested improvement would have suited me, as I should have scored with Whites, as under: —

(d) If 15 18 then 13 9, 6 22, 26 17—White wins. H. M. (c) Playing against the " Herd Laddie," Ferric moved 2 7 here, and a draw resulted. From this point to the end the game is a transposition of one of the notes in the second Scottish Toxirney Book.—Ed. L. M. Game 59:6.—"Ke150."

(a) Again Mr Davies remarked that 13 9, instead of 31 26, would have won for White, biit I draw as follows: —

The following games were played between Messrs H. Jacob, of London, and J. A. Kear, jun., of Bristol.—Glasgow Herald. Game 5917.—" Whilter."

Drawn. Game 5918.—".Ayrshire Lassie."

(A) 13 17 is usual. After 14 17 the best Black can hope for is a draw. (bj Weak. White's reply prevents Black moving thei piece on 7, and eventually forces the win.
