Otago Witness Seventh Solution Tourney.

The competing- problems in the tourney, together with such selected thiee-mcve problems as may appear during the publication of the tourney uroblenio, are alone submitted for solution. A prize of 10s 6d to the solver who obtains tha highest number of points is offered by the Daily Times and Witness Company, and a second prize o f Conington's or Mason's (at the option of the winner) " Elementary Treatise on Chess " will be given by the chess editor to the solver who gains the next highest number of points. The conditions of the competition are: — Points — Each author's solution and eveiy " cook " : two moves one point, three moves two points. A correct statement that a problem has no solution counts as a solution. Criticisms by solvers are invited, and it is requested that solvers award marks to sound problems from 0 up to 10, according to their estimate of the merits of the problem. Solutions and criticisms must bo completed within one week from the time problems are received by the solver. Criticisms will be subject to abridgment at the option of the chess editor. Solutions will be counted, although unaccompanied by criticisms.
