JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. The match Dunedin No. 2 v. Albion No. 2 was played on the Caledonian ground, and resulted in a win for the Dunedin by seven ■vvickets and 39 runs. Albion, batting first, contributed 82 (Lomas 18, Permin 16, Kenny 10, Murphy 10). The Dunedin replied with 121 for three wickets, Fleming leading the way with a well compiled 50 (not out), Mac-

lean 36, and A. Melville 22. Fleming (six for 14), bowled very well for Dunedin, while Hamilton did best for the Albion. The match Dunedin No. 1 v. Albion No. 1 was played on the North ground, and resulted in a win for Dunedin by 65 runs, the scores being: Albion 25, Dunedin 90 (Blues 30). Murchie was the most successful bowler for the Dunedin. The match Privateers v. Grange was played on the Asylum ground. Grange, winning the toss, elected to bat, and were not disposed of until the score had totalled 118 runs (Lawrence 10, Roberts 17, Brydon 13, Restieaux 39). Privateers, on going to the wickets in a bad light, have so far made 65 for six wickets (Hessian 20, not out, Connor 15). In bowling Miller (four for 31) and Wardrop bowled well for Privateers, and Chadwick and Fergusson have divided the wickets for Grange. This match will be continued on the Asylum ground on Tuesday night at 5.30. The match Roslyn v. Opoho was played at Opoho, and resulted in a win for the home team by the narrow margin of six runs. Considering that the wicket was in favour of the batsmen, the Opoho batting was on the whole very feeble, and the innings realised only 72 runs. Hayden (16), Watkins (14), Moore (13), and J. Thomson (11) batted well. Fisher bowled splendidly for Roslyn, securing seven wickets. Roslyn started their innings badly, three wickets falling for seven runs. Sparrow and Anderson, however, made 'a- stand, and took the score to 31 before the fourth v/icket fell. Other four wickets fell for the addition of eight runs; but Wilkinson and Dobson took the score to 63 before the former was caught in the slips. The innings closed for 66 runs: Chaclwick bowled well for Opoho. taking five wickets for 28 ;■ while Watkins, at the wickets, was very smart. THIRD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP. The match Grange No. 1 v. Opoho resulted in a'very exciting finish, the former winning by 6 runs on the first innings. Graiige, batting first, totalled 37, Spence (12) and Riddle (11) reaching double figures. M 'Arthur and Drake bowled well for Opoho, who, on going in to bat, could only total 31, Abbott (13) reaching double figures. Crosbie (nine for 16) and Morgan (one for 10) bowled well for the Grange. The Grange, on batting a second time, scored 81, Sinclair (25) and 1 G. Morgan (28, not out) reaching double figures. The match Carisbrook E v. Mornington C resulted in a win for the former by 4 runs. Mornington made 61, of which V. Burton claimed 19, Wyinks, Reed, and Marks 11 each. For the winners Graham (30) and Boyd (21) claimed practically all the runs. Piddington bowled best for Carisbrook, as did Marks for Mornington. The match Hendley No. 1 v. Roslyn No. 1 was played at Roslyn, and resulted in a decisive win for Hendley by six wickets and 186 runs. . Roslyn, playing nine men, batted first, and were all disposed of for 12 runs, Wallace securing seven wickets for 5 and Restieaux one for 7. Hendley, on going in to bat, totalled 208 for fottr wickets, when play was stopped by the rain. Collie (101, not out), Smith (58/ not out), A. Thomson (17), M. Thompson (14), A. Fish (12) being the scorers. Collie's runs were obtained by splendid cricket— Edwards was the most successful bowler for Roslyn. The match Green. Island v. Privateers No. 1 was won by the former by 14 runs. R. King (11), Prebble (10), and M'Caughan (10) batted well for Green Island, as did Miller <22) for Privateers. Watson (five for 9) bowled well for the winners, while Hay (seven ' for 26) and Whitty (two for 5) did best for the losers. The match Hendley No. 2 v. Dunedin No. 2 was played on the Caledonian ground, and resulted in a win for Hendley by 40 runs. Dunedin, batting first, totalled 55, Cullen (14 rrid Morgan (11) being top scorers. R. Torrance (six for 21) and M'Farlane (three for 20) bowled well. Hendley replied with 95. W. Hay (44) and Graham (20)_being the principal scorers. Jones, Watson, and Dodds bowled be3t for Dunedin. The match between Grange No. 2 and Mornington B resulted in a draw, the scores being: Grange, 25 (Park 7, not out) and 31 (Dry 12) ; Mornington, 21 and 35 (Harris 14, Cook 7). M'Donald (five for 4). Dey (four for 11), for the Grange, and Harris and Cook for Mornington, bowled well.. OTHER MATCHES. ' Methodist Central Mission journeyed to Anderson's Bay and defeated the local team by an innings and 6 runs. Anderson's Bay made 27 (Harland 11) and 33. Central Mission replied with 66 (Warburton 29, not out, and A. Beck 15). F. Beck. Dray, and A. Beck (the latter of whom performed the " hat trick ") bowled well for the winners, whilst ' Harland and Kirkwood did likewise for the losers. • Thistle defeated Ravensbourne by an innings and 36 runs. A team from Waikouaiti journeyed to Palmerston last Saturday, and after a very enjoyable game defeated the local club rather easily.' Waikouaifci, batting first,, declared their innings closed for the respectable total of 133 for three wickets. Bradley made 10, Wilson 12, James Carson 51 (not out), and Harper 55 (not out), the perfect batting of the last-named being reminiscent of his palmy days. The bowling of Wilson and Carson proved very effective, and Palmerston were disposed of for 39, M'Leod carrying his bat out for a carefully-compiled 17. Waikouaiti will be pleased to receive a visit from any- town clubs by the Saturday excursion train. NEW SOUTH WALES v. VICTORIA. SYDNEY, January 30. Tn the cricket match between Victoria and New South Wales, the local team in their second innings scored 412. Noble made 155, Duff 76. Requiring 375 runs to win, the Victorians have lost four wickets in their second innings for 98. * ■January 31. The Victorian team in their second innings were all got rid of for 263.
