THE C.J.C. MIDSUMMER.
Only 11 acceptances have bean received for the C.J.C. Midsummer Handicap, and with Malatua top weight the company is not firstclass. We have got tised to seeing Mr O'Brien's horse about 8.0 nothing instead of on the verge of 9.0, and somehow I don'fc fancy him, although I am well aware that several of those below him in the list can scarcely expect to beat him. Jupiter is, to my mind, ever so much more likely at the scale of weights, and I think the Otago horse will take a lot of beating if started. Dundas and Htiku arc -perhaps next best. The general entries are fairly satisfactory, and tire chances are that it will be a pleasant meeting.
