February 2. — The "Waihernoists are doing theiu share in connection with the war fund for South Africa, there having been several lists out. Mr Bell, of Shag Valley Station, had, I am told, a, very well-filled one, as also had Miss E. Miller, Green Valley, and Miss Morrison. I do not know for certain the amount collected by the former two, but here is a list of the sums collected by Miss Morrison, the money being sent to the Post and Telegraph department: — Jas. Morrison £1 Is, Robert Matheson 10s, Margaret; Fieeland 3s, T. M'Leod £1 Is, B. Bruhns 2s 6d, G. W. Morrison 2s 6d, 8,. Bums 2s 6d, John Herd as ; — total, £3 7s 6d.
