The total wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,910,000 quarters, and for the Continent 750,000 quarters. Wheat at Mark Lane is quoted sixpence dearer on the week. Ten thousand quarters of Victorian (January-February shipment) sold at 29s 3d. Tin, £12-7 10s. Bank of Australasia shares, £63 ; Bank 'of New South Wales, £39 ; New Zealand Xioan and Mercantile Agency Company's 4 per cent, prior lien debentures, £94. Other stocks are unchanged. February 3. The Bank of England returns show the reserve to be £23,951,000 ; the stock of gold, coin, and bullion to be £34,054,000 ; proportion of reserve to liabilities, 46.22. The notes in circulation total £28,351,000 ; public deposits, £11,441,000 ; other deposits, £40,222,000 ; Government securities, £18,057,000 ; other securities, £27,830,000. : ■ Three months' bills are discounted at 3| per cent. Lead, £16 10s. Sugar is firm. German, 9s 9d ; Java, 11s 7£d. The Bradford wool market is lifeless, and sellers freely offer 60's at 30^d. Crossbreds have a weakening tendency. Tallow : The stocks are 14,261 casks ; imports, 5316 casks ; and deliveries, . 8456 casks. The smaller supplies have had the effect of hardening the market for butter, though there is less demand. Colonial, firm, 96s to 100s. Danish is weaker, 107s. Cheese is firm. New Zealand, 58s. February 4. Frozen Mutton. — Crossbred wethers and maiden ewes : Canterbury, 3d ; Dunedin and Southland, 2|d ; North Island, 2 11-16 d. Lamb unchanged. River Plate crossbred or merino wethers, heavy and light, both. 2 9-16 d. Hemp. — Market is dull. Fair Wellington (January and March shipments) are offering at £31 10s. Kauri Gum. — The stock is 1642 cases. Quicksilver, £9 12s 6d per flask. Antimony, £39 10s per ton.
