THE OAMARU LOCAL OPTION POLL.
.DECLARED VOID. OAMARU, January 11. Major Keddell, S.M., gave judgment today in the petition against the licensing poll in Oamaru, where reduction had been carried. One ground of the petition Avas that the returning officer had not personally counted the votes in the licensing poll, and that the poll, therefore, was void. I The magistrate upheld this, and declared ' the poll void. If this interpretation is ' correct it will probably mean" that every licensing poll in the colony can be upset if ' petitioned against. No appeal can lie | a-gainst the decision.
