WELLINGTON WING WHISPERS
December 22. Dear Pasquin, — A merry Christmas to you, _ your staff, and your readers. May you. all Jive long, and die good Witnesses. We are having a great time up here, and, in the language of Hans, the Capital City promises to be so gay as never vwas.
Bland Holt finished up a very successful season on Wednesday evening with "How London Lives," and a portion of the company went on to Auckland next day, whilst the remainder leaves to-morrow. They open 0:1 Boxing Night, run foi t^K weeks there, then, givo a week at Wanganui, where they open, the new Opera House, then come on to Wellington for another fortnight, thence South, after which, good-bye to the colony for a couple of years.
'"i'ronduenmiphilipenotrascomomancy" is the title given by Kudarz to one of his many tricks. Tom Kudarz Drivei gave two seances in the Choral Hall dxiring the week, but the patronage was by no means as numerous as the cleverness of the professor deserved. He has improved considerably even upon his" expertness when formerly he resided in this city, -where he followed the occupation of a printer. N ' Tho Pollard Opera Company arrived from the north by the Takapuna last Saturday morning in preparation for the Christmas season. Tom. of the Pollards tells me that the country tour on the west coast from Auckland to Wellington was the most profitable of the series. Mr Pollard has received word that the Misses Perry and Mr 'William Paull. important members of the Royal Comic Opera Company, left Sydney by the Talune to join the company and assist in the performance of the Japanese opera " The Geisha," which is to make its first appearance in Wellington on Boxing night. The Pollard Company is now stronger than it has ever been, and the- latest acquisitions will help to present th-. new opera under the best possible circumstances. Mr Paull, a fine baritone cinger, has jufit finished a long engagement with ''The Firm," and the Misses Perry were quite recently brought out from England to reinforce the Eoyal Comic , Opera Company. Mr Allan Hamilton, advance representative of the Brough Comedy Company, arrived from Sydney by the Talune yesterday morning, and went on to Christchurch last evening to make arrangements for the opening season, which, commences there on the zdta inst. The company afterwards appears in Dunedin and Auckland, and inaugurates a season at the Wellington Opera House on March 2. Among the comedies to be presented are "The Liars,""Lord and Lady Algy," "Madame Sans Gene,"and some plays that have already been seen here. Professor Northcote gave a four-nights season in the Exchange Hall with his Kinematograph and Variety Company. A kincmato. show has been going on, and is still, at tho Criterion Theatre. A bull fight is the piece do resistance. On Christma-3 Night the Steele-Payno Bellringers, who have just finished a season along the coalangolden West Coast, open a season iv the Exchange Hall. To-morrow night Fuller's Waxworks and Vaudeville Company opens s three-months'-season in the Choral Hal!. Mi Fuller is now running shows at Dunedin and Chriatohuxcll as well as iv tiiis city..
