LAND BOARD.
The .weekly meeting of tho Land Board, held on Wednesday, was attended by Messrs J. P. Maitland (chief commissioner), H. Clark, W. Dallas, J. Duncan, and H. H. Kirkpatrick. On the report of Ranger Mackenzie, section 1 10, block 111, Kurow, was recommended for notification at a capital value of 20s per acre, with valuation for improvements ±'63. William Baker, John Eggers, and Thomas Heddio wrote complaining that K. Clafiy had not removed his fencing from the mining re- j eerve in block I, Highlay district, as required j 't>y the Land Board. — Left in hands of the chief ! commissioner to take such action, as is neces- j Eary in iha case. j .James~^*parden's -application to surrender, jetcy site licenso at yueenstown was accepted. I The following having paid arrears, resolution | forfeiting sections was rescinded: — A. Fallowfield, perpetual lease BG4; D. H. Leith, lease in perpetuity 204; R. Elliott, occupation wi^i right of purchase 130. Consideration of letter from Mrs A. J. Smith, •who had been called upon, to show cause why her lease over section 50, block 11, Glenomaru, should not be declared forfeited for non-com-pliance with residence conditions, was deferred, j Jame3 Whelan applied for occupation license- J . over 50 acres in block I, Kawarau district. — ■Granted, less reserve for quarry, at rental of 8d per acre per annum and survey fee. ._ Patrick Cosgrave's application for 50 acres in"Samo block was similarly dealt with. P. M'Atanmey applied for license to occupy sections 185, 187, and 168, and portion of mining reserve adjoining town of Komako, in order that ho may have access to water area, .about 13 acres. — Referred to ranger for report. Consideration of letters from Thomas M'Kee mid George Harvey, jun., in regard to damage dono to their crops on the Poinahaka estate j by a hailstorm, was deferred for a, month. j W. P. M'Kerrow, licensee of Hun 464, Otc- i popo, wrote complaining of trespass of cattle belonging to Angus Ross, the holder of a yearly license over 400 acres adjoining the run, and asking that Mr Ross be required to fence his lioundary.— It was resolved that Mr Ross's license be not renewed, and that tho area bo offered as a pastoral run for a term of 13 years j nt an upset rental of £3. I Riinger Atkinson having reported in reference to the road through section 11, block 11, Dunback, applied £or by the Waihemo County Council, it was resolved to notify the council that owing to neglect to per.d survey plan of ptoposed road it will now have to be taken under the Public Works Act. Assistant-ranger. O'Neill forwarded valuation on the following sections: — Section 46, block II; part 2, block V; part 3, block V; seclions 4 to 8, block V; section 2, block VIII; sections 3 and 4, block Vlli Teviot district ; section part 3, block 111, Cairn Hill; part 12, block IX; section 4, block V, Teviot, and part oi Whitecombe estate— in all £863 8s 6d. Also, | parts 2 and 3, block V ; part 12, block IX ; section 11, block IX; and section 17, block X, Teviot — £207 10s. — Valuations approved. The salesman reported that Mrs B. C. 'c, ! applicant for sections 28 to 31, block I, u.eu- j orchy, had failed to pay costs of re-entry — 30a. —To be informed that unless amount is paid application will lapse. Tuapeka and Taieri County Councils forwarded statements of proposed expenditure of "thirds" and "fourths" for period July 3 to September 30, 1399.— Approved. Ranger Atkinson forwarded report on the following sections in town of Hawkesbury: — Sections 7 to 21, block XX, 18 to 2i, block XXII, 12 to 21, block XXIV, 19 to 22, block j XXIX, 15 to 2-2, block IV.— To be offered at auc- | tion aa town, land at UDSet of £5 vet section.
[ The following applications were approved: — > Transfer oi occupation lease over sections SS and Bf>, block IX, Maerewhenua, Alfred and William M'Quade to Robert M'Quade. For allotments on Janefield estate: Robert Cuthill, allotment No. 20; Jessie C. Dunlop, No. 16; Norman Campbell, No. 15. For rural land on lease in percetuity: Section 24, block XIV, Rirmi, John , Miller. It wp.s resolved to, offer the following allot- , ments on Janefield e&tate grouped: — 7 and 8, i 9 acres ; 9 and 10, 6a 2r 16p ; 11 and 12, 6 acres ; 1 13 and 14, 6 acres; 21 and 22, 6 acres; 23 and 1 24, 6 acies. ■ Received that next meeting of board be held on "Wednesday, January 10, 1900.
