LAND BOARD.
The weekly meeting of the Land Board was held on Wednesday, and was attended by Messrs J. P. Maitland (chief commissioner), H. Clark,'W. Dallas, J. Duncan, and H. H. Kirkpatrick. Ranger Hughan and the warden having reported on, an application by Martin Franklin for an occupation lease over 15 acres in block IV, Tuapeka East district, the application was granted at a rental of Is per acre per annum; survey ices to be deposited. Robert D. Rossr applretTto purchase one acre in block 111, Tuapeka East district, adjoining sections 44 and 52.—T0 be allowed to acquire for cash at capital, value of £2 per acre. The surrender of a perpetual lease over section 19, block 11, Mount^fyde district, by Mrs E. Mitchell was accepted, the land being xecemmended for notification at a capital value of 7s 6d per acre, with valuation for improvements, <£48-- -12s. "Assistant Ranger O'Neill having reported on section 23, block XVI, Maniototo district, formerly held by Jame3 Kealey, the board decided that the section should be reopened at a reduced capital value of 17s 6d per acre. The board authorised the receiver of land revenue to pay over to the persons entitled to receive the 3amc, the valuations for improvements on the following sections: —Section 2, block XIX, Maniototo district, £14 6s; section 3, block XIX, same district, £28 8s 6d; section 5, block XIX, same district, £16 Is 9d; section 23, block,Vl, Naßeby district, £23 Is Cd; and section 18, block VI, same district, £7 17s 6d. Assistant Ranger O'Neill having forwarded valuation of improvements on run No. 185, Mount Hyde district, the valuation, £27 10s, was approved.
Section 7 and 11, block XI, Mount Hyde district, formerly held by R. Barron, jun., were reported on by Assistant Ranger O'Neill, and recommended foi notification at a capital value -of 5s per acre, witji valuation on section 7 £8 los, and on section" 11, £G 6i. A letter wiio received from Mr John White, jun., declining to take up license to cut firewood over two acres in Telegraph Gully. William Johnstonc applied to be allowed to remove his improvements from section 21, block XVI, Maniototo district. — To be allowed to remove roof of hut as requested ; valuation to be reduced by amount allowed for hut.
Mr T. Chalmer (on behalf of the occupiers of sections 224 and 225, Town of Komako) applied for time in which to make arrangements for leaving, in the event of their not being the purchasers. — Notice to %be given at sale that possession of sections will be given one month after the sale.
The valuation for improvements on Run 137 d, Beaumont, £16 ss, wag approved.
Thomas. Wilson's request for permission to cut cocksfoot seed irom section 40, block VII, Glenomaru district, was declined.
The application of John Herriolt for rural land under the Land for Settlements Act (section 45, Wook XI, Pomahaka Downs estate) was appioved.
Alexunder Wood applied for an increased holding of 10 acres on Run No. 140 a, Glen-kc-i.-ich district. — Consideration deferred.
Christopher Gwyn applied to surrender lease in perpetuity pection 32, block IV, Glenomaru district. — The board could not entertain the application until another half year's lent, due January 1, was p;tid.
The transfer of a yearly license of section 1, block VI, Gimmerburn district, from "William Murray and John Roberts to Thomas Hall, was approved.
James Delaney applied vo obtain an occupation license, with right of purchase, over abo:;t 15 acres 3 roods of the railway reserve in blojk 111, Woodland district. — Application granted at a capital value of 253 per acre, subject to a road being opened at the southern corner of the land applied for.

The transfer of small grazing run, section 2, block I, Sutton district, from William Kennedy to Mrs Margaret Kennedy was approved.
Tho Waikato Natives have built a new canoe, the "Whawhakia, which will take the place of the Pupurikana at future regattas.
The Bluff Harbour Board on Saturday accepted the tender of J. P. Rennoldson and Sons, of South Shields, England, for the construction of a tug. the amount being £10,675, and the vessel to be delivered at the Bluff by August next.
An advertisement in connection with the train arrangements for the Christmas holidays will be found elsewhere' in this issue. The. whole of the ordinary trains will besuspended, and wo refer our readers to the advertisement for the particulars of tho traffic arrangements for that day.
SHEEP DIP TRlAL.— Messrs Kempthorne, Prosser, and Co. (Limited) announce that they purpose giving a public trial of their
"K. P. ' Improved Sheep Dip at Mr D. Murray's yards, Pukerau, on Wednesday, the 20th inst.' at 2 p.m., to which farmers, sheeyowners, and others interested ai'e invited. This new dip attracted considerable attention when it was subjected to a public trial in August last at Abbotsford, near Dunedin, the experts who watched the results declaring it to bo the best yet placed on the market. The makers claim that it effectually kills all parasites and their eggs, acts harmlessly on the sheep, and preserves and improves, the quality di the wool. The object of these trials is to prove in a practical way that the '" K. P." dip is in every respect what the makers claim for it.
