TAIERI BEACH.
December 7.—^Mr M'Skimming, of Benhar, Stirling, addressed an audience in the hall, Taieri Mouth, on the 2nd inst. Mr M'Skiming is an earnest and impressive speaker-and one who has the temp^rancp cause at heart. During the course-of tHe evening suitable songs were given by the Misses Burnard, and recitations by Miss Burnard and Mr Burnard. On the following Sunday evening Mr M'Skiming preached in the hall on the text, " Choose ye this day whom ye will serve," and spoke even better than he did on the preceding night. Concert at Akatore.—A concert in aid of the school funds was held on the Ist inst. in the Akalore school, and was a very successful one. At the end of the programme refreshments were handed round. Mr Milne very ably presided as chairman. Throughout the evening the following items were gone through:—Solo, "Jessie's Dream," Miss Burnard; solo, " Rothesay Bay," Miss Knarston; Scotch reading, Miss Paul; solo, "Only a little token," Miss Fairbairn; solo and chorus, " Sister Mary," Mr Milne; recitation,." Curfew shall not ring to-night," Miss A Burnard; solo, " Soldiers of the Queen," Mv R. Fairbairn; solo, Mr M'Millan; Scotch reading,, " Sandy and the Dirner Bell,' Mr Milne; duet, " Larboard Watch," Messrs R. and W. Fairbairn; solo, ,1 My nsher b °y> aiiss A- Burnard ; recitation, " Ihe Man From Snowy River," Miss Farnii-; solo, "Don't forget Old Ireland," Mr R. Fairban n; solo, "Barney, take me home again," Miss Fairbairn ; solo, " Ben Bolt," Miss Pearson; Scotch reading, Mr Milne; solo, Mr W. Fairbairn, solo, "Beautiful isle of the sea," Mis 3 Knarston; solo, " Comrades,' Mr Pearson. Miss Fairbairn played the majority of Jh.j accompaniments, and Miss Burn and Mrs Hughan the rest.
