BENEVOLENT INSTITUTION TRUSTEES.
The weekly meeting of the Benevolent Trustees were attended on the 6th by Messrs A. Solomon (chairman), P. Treseder, and R. Wilson. Accounts amounting to JE3SB 17s lid were passed for payment. The secretary reported that 315 relief coses had been attended to during the past month, representing 114 men, 237 women, and 568 children, at a cost of £96 os, as against 317 cases for the corresponding month of the previous year, representing 115 men, 237 women, and 557 children, at a cost of £95 13s 6d.
Tho Chairman explained that in connection with the proposed improvement of the drainage, at tho Benevolent Institution, Messrs Mason and Wales had recommended the aeptic tank system, and submitted a sketch plan. Mr Wales also wrote explaining that his firm had written Home to the Septic Tank Syndicate for full information, which would be submitted to the trustees in due course. It was resolved to defer consideration of the matter for a week ; meantime the sketch plan to bo submitted to the Caversham Council for consideration. Fourteen relief cases were dealt with.
