The competition for the Bruutsfleld was played last Thursday, and there were- a i large number of entries. Tho game consisted ' of two rounds, the lowest scorer to be the winner, and all players 'to start from -scratch. ; In the first round Mr 'Turnbull was leaclnjg ! with 'an excellent score of 91, while Mr E. D. I Stronach was 93, Mr A. A. Scott 96, and Mr s T { Gilrny, jun., 97. The second roiurd, how- ■ ever, proved somewhat trying owing to the . thunderstorm, which was most severs. Once again the .rain came down in torrents just as -play -was starting, und in consequence most of the greenß were undcz water. On the cards being handed in it was found that Mr T. Gilray, jun. was the winnei , with an exoolleut score of 1 up. JMr Gilray ' is a young player, and promises to become an ; adept at tho game.
