CREE RELIEF FUND.

The Treasurer (Rev. I. K. M'lntyre) thankfully acknowledges receipt of the following additional amounts: — Messrs Cossens and Black (Limited) and employees (per Mr W. The crew of the Lady Ranfurly dredge piesented Mr Joseph M'George, who has left the dredge, of which he has been master since her launch, with a gold Maltese cross, inscribed ou one side, "To Joseph M'George,'' and on the othe., "Prej.cnted.by the crew of tlu Ranfurly Dredge; 30/11/99." The e3tate3 of the' following deceased persons have been placed under the charge of the Public Trustee during the month of November : — James Anderson, Outram ; Thomas Auld, Caversham ; William Gibson and Janet Jacobs, Dunedin ; and Anne Hammond, Palmerston South. On Sunday morning the house of Mr Ewarl, North Taieri, had a narrow escape from being wrecked by lightning. A flash struck a wire clothes line attached to the buggyhouse, and after splittirtg tho line post, travelled'along the wire, .to the shed, where it twisted the brake of the buggy. At the same time, and presumably by the same flash, the top was knocked from tho chimney 8f the house, some eight or nine yards from tho buggy-shed. — Taieri Advocate.
