FAT STOCK COMPETITION. j The secretary of the society having received by, last mail particulars of the sales of the hoggets entered for competition for the society's special prize of £50, we are now enabled to supply our readers with both the valuation and the actual sales. According to the conditions of the competition, Mr Alex. Douglas has won the prize, his p'en of hoggets netting the highest valuation per head for carcase, skin, and fat, but on analysis of the accounts showing the actual sales it will be noticed that the Table Showing Valuations and Actual Sales entered for. the fat stock competition Prize of £s('. •

Acton sheep (pen No 109) actually netted 7d more than the' winner, having gained 9s 9d on the sale of the carcase- and lost Is 8d on the sale of skins. The winning pen (No 115) shows a difference of 3s 8d on the sale of skins and gains 7d on the proceeds of carcases. Pen 108, gaining second place in this competition, gained lid on skins and Is lid on carcases in excess of the valuations, and pen No. 84- gained 4s 4d on sale of carcase, and the skins were sold at 3s 2d less than the valuation.
