LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting of the .band Board woe held in the Laaid3 Office on Wednesday, and was attended by the chief commissioner (Mr J. P. Maitland), and Messrs Clark, Dallas, Duncan, and Kirkpatrick.

John F/igle applied for license to occupy fivo acres in block 11, St. Bathans, adjoining tho sludge channel. — Granted, at yearly rental of 2s 6d, with £1 la license fee.

I W. Pyle applied for lease in perpetuity over section 22, block 11, St. Bathana. Granted, at \capital value of 25s per acre. John White applied for license to cut firewood over two acres in Telegraph Gully, Mocraki. — Granted for one year, at £5, under Forest Regulations Act.

The application of Richard Cook to occupy sctions 63, 61, 120, and 121, block IX, Maorewhenua, was declined, license having been granted to F. W. Botting. David Dallas applied, under section 115 of the Land Act, to purchase the old river bed south of section 9~ block I, Clutha district, owned by him, and also the old river bed running through tho section. —To be allowed to acquire same at 15s per aore, subject to approval of Government. Mr C. T. Eason waa allowed 12 months to comply with the conditions, otherwise his pastoral license over section 29, block 11, Catlins, will be forfeited, without further notice. Applications by C'has. Doro and Mrs E. Dore to surrender leases over small grazing runs, sections 3 and 9, block XII, Strath-Taieri and sections 1, 2, 3, 8 to 12, block 11, Nenthorn, and section 16, block XIII, Strath-Taieri, were considered. — It was resolved to recommend tho Minister to accept surrender as lessees are not in a position to continue occupation.

An application for transfer of section 2, block XI, Naseby, from Robert Glein to Annie G-lem was allowed to be withdrawn. Messrs John Reid aad Sons applied, on behalf of John Murray, to be allowed to acquire on lease in perpetuity 253 acres in the S.W. corner of section 9>, block XII, Strath-Taieri. — To receive consideration when application to surrender by present lessee is dealt with. Ranger Atkinson having reported on section 17, block XII, Teaneraki, it was decided to reopen same with valuation for improvements reduced to £20.

Application by Thos. Anderson for 200 acrea on Run 210b, Mt. Pisa, on lease in perpetuity, waa referred to the warden for report aa to whether there is any objection from a mining point of view ; also to Ranger Mackenzie to suggest capital value. Mr R. Gilkison, on behalf of W. Finlay, applied to have tho land in block I, south of section 19, town of Alexandra, offered for sale. — ■ The chief surveyor to have any land available in said block surveyed with the view to having it offered for sale. The Waitaki, Waihenio, and Clutha County Councils forwarded statements ro proposed expenditure of "thirds" and "fourths" for period 3rd July to 30th September. 1899.— Approved. The next meeting of the Land Board will be held on Thursday, 7th December.
