WANGANUI SHOW. WANGANUI, November 23.
The annual show of the Wanganui A. and P. Society took place to-day, and was a great sucess, the entries being much larger than last year, and the competition in nearly all classes excellent. In sheep, Lincolns, of course, predominated, and the public had an opportunity of comparing Mr Wilkie's imported sheep with the best locally-bred animals, and the colonial stock did not suffer by the comparison, for Mr William Wilson, the famous sheep breeder, of Whenuakura, secured first and champion in Lincoln rams, and also several other awards. Mr Alfred Burnett had some excellent entries in flock sheep, Messrs Fernie Bros, and Mr J. B. Murray also being well represented. There was a fine display in these classes, which were the feature of the show. The show of catthrwas undoubtedly very fine, there being some of the best samples of stock from the bept breeders on the coast. Three- very fine samples of Shorthorn bulls were shown by Messrs Fantham, Campbell, and Peat, the former, as in past years, being particularly well represented in this class of stock. His bull, Hubbuck, whicli secured first and champion at the Hawera show, also obtained the honours here: The Jerseys and Alderneys were an especially strong class, both as regards quantity and quality, while the fat stock was a prominent feature, Mi- John M'Gregor again being the most successful competitor in this class. Pigs, poultry, and dogs were also well represented on the whole, and there was a capital display of agricultural implements, produce, and local industries^ The weather, except for a fresh breeze, was ail that could be desired.
