THE HOH J. G. WARD JOINS THE CABINET.

AUCKLAND, November 22. The Premier addressed a crowded meeting' at Tauranga last night. He said he admitted that Mr Ward bad been wrongly judged, and that his actions had proved him an honourable and upright man. Mr Ward would be reinstated in the Ministry. A vote of thanks and confidence was passed amid great cheering.

Miss Gifford, of Oamaru, has accepted an invitation to sing the contralto solos in the " Messiah," which is to be given shortly in Dunedin. Lieutenant W. Cook, of the Invercargill Fire Brigade, completed his 25 years' continuous service in that organisation in September last, and is entitled to the gold star of the New Zealand Brigades' Association*
