CALEDONIAN SOCIETY'S SPORTS
j The 1900 programme of the Caledonian Society of Otago has just been issued. It is a two days' programme (Ist and 2nd January), j with a prize list aggregating within a fraction of £500, fairly distributed among the various classes of sport. The prizes for wrestling total lup to £90, and cycling £75. A new feature has been introduced in* a wood-chopping and wood-sawing competition, with prizes amounting to £22. These competitions have been very successful in Tasmania and Australia, and it is confidently expected they will bring a large number of competitors and their friends from the southern districts. The cycling track and oval are in splendid condition, and it is confidently anticipated that the end of the century sports of this popular society will bo equal in attraction to any that Have preceded them. It is expected that among ! the competitors in the wrestling arena will be the redoutable Harry Dunn.
