KOKONGA.

November 18. — The rainfall at Kokonga for the month of October was .74in. Rain fell on 13 days, the maximum being .15in, on the 3rd. "The weather during October was cold and disagreeable. High winds are the order of the day, with very little xain. The farmers are looking forward to a dry season. School. — The annual examination has held by Mr Goyen-on the 30th and 31st October, and, considering the amount of time lost during the year, the result was very satisfactory. The school closed for two days after the examinar tion, but owing to prevailing sicknezs the attendance has suffered. Amusements. — A very successful eritertain-

inent was lield in the Kokonga School on the evening of the 9th of November, consisting of a kinematograph'ic display, songs and instrumental solos on the phonograph, and a. very clever ventriloquial exhibition. The ventriloquist, Mr George Wilson, is a real '" Valentine Vox," and is possessed of a fine voice, which he "uses very effectively. Altogether the show is well worth seeing.

County Elections. — The county council elections were held last Thursday, Mr Robert Logan being returned for Kyeburn Riding. The election for Hyde Riding resulted in a tie, Mr Kenny being elected or> the casting vote of the icturning officer.
