At the annual meeting of the Wyndham Racing Club, held on Saturday week, the balance sheet showed that the club began the year with a credit balance of £105 13s, and after spending £152 on improvements, had a credit balance of £56 at the end of the year. The election of officers resulted as followB : — President, Mr Ive ; vice-presidents, Dr Rogers and Messrß Traynor, Amos, 6. Hunter, and Winter ; secretary, Mr Currie ; starter, Mr 0. J. Mr Ive, who had given notice of!, motion to hold a two-days' meeting next New,' Year time, said he thougnt it would be futile to go further with the idea. He would therefore ask leave to withdraw his motion. The secretary said that he had approached several of the members of Southland Racing Club on the matter, and they were one and all averse to allowing Wyndham to race on January 1 and 2, although they were willing that they should do so on December 31 and January 1. Further, by the tone of last racing conference, there was a poor chance of Wyndham Club getting a license for two days. Ii was resolved to draw up a programme for thf annual meeting, the stakes not to exceed £220. Last year's stakes totalled £180. and it was considered that the flourishing condition of the finances warranted a substantial increase in prize money.
