DREDGING RETURNS
Our Cromwell correspondent telegraphs that the Alpine dredge obtained 340z foi 52 hours' dredging. The return from the Vincent dredge for four days last week was G3oz. The information reached us in a curious, roundabout manner worth mentioning. Mr Cogan, the secretary, is away on a wclll-earned holiday, and being in Christchurch yesterday, tho dredgemaster telegraphed the return to him. By telephone from Christchurch last night Mr Cogan kindly suplied us with the return. Mr Jabez Burton reports that the Ettrick dredge obtained 17oz 14dwt of gold last week. Mr Gibson, secretary of the Success Dredging Company, Waipori, reports a return of 13oz 2dwt 20gr for 52 hours last week. The Golden Gate's return for last week waa 550z 3dwt. The river is lo.w.
The Waimumu dredge washed up 220z for 129 dredging hours. I The Secretary of the Golden Beach Company reports a return of 88oz Bdwt of gold for four j days 17J hours' di edging. | The Secretary of the Magnetic Company rei ports a return of 83oz for four days. | The return from the Matau dredge was 103oz for the week. The Enterprise dredge obtained a return of 50oz 6dwt 12gr for 125 hours' work last week. The Stock Exchange report the following returns for last week: — Golden Treasure ConiX?any, 250z ; Otago Dredging Company, 14oz lldwt. The Dunedin Gold Dredging Company obtained B£oz gold for 4J days' dredging last week. The Inch Valley dredge having been overhauled, no dredging was done last week. The Cromwell Argus reports that the Hartley and Kiley dredge obtained 740z on Saturday, and 107oz on Monday. The return from the Evans's Flat dredge for nino days was 270z 15dwt, and from tho Tuapekn. dredge, for last week 15oz lOdwt. For 188 hours' working, the Gold Creek Company's dredge returned 38oz amalgam. Returns from this claim are steadily improving. The secretary Golden Terrace Dredging Company reports a return of 220z 3dwt logr for week ended Thursday, 10th inst. The Golden Run (pipes) return of 41oz was for nine days' work, and not 12 as reported previously. Tho Hartley and Riley dredge is reported to ha-ve obtained 26Soz for two- days — Saturday and Monday. Mr J. D. Buchanan, secretary of the Unity Dredging Company, at Alexandra, reports that the Unity return for last week was 950z 2dwt for four and a-quar.ter days' dredging. The secretary o£ the Clyde Company reports a return of 4ioz. The river is 21in above normal mark. The Jutland Flat (Waipori) Gold Mining Company (Limited) obtained last week 13o?.. IQdv/t gold for 144 hours' wages time; 120 hours' actual. dredging. Tho secretary of the Macraes Flat Gold Dredging Company (Limited) reports lloz sdwt since frost permitted working; wash improving. Mr Sligo, dredgemaster, has resigned, aird Mr Wilson, of Qucenstown, has been appointed in his place. The " Empire' Gold Dredging Company (Limited) obtained 250z 6dwt 4gr of gold for last week.
