The Bureau of Navigation has been informed that the Russian Government has decided to pay the dues for passing the Suez Oanal on all .Russian merchant steamers for the next ten years. The object of the Government is to increase Russian trade and navigation in the Pacific. —Laffan. The following vessels have been iv harbour during the past week: —Arrivals: Ringdove, H.M.S., 805 tons; Janet Nicoll, s.s., 496; Rimu, s.s., 143 (twice); Napier, s.s., 48 (twice); Beautiful Star, s.s., 146 (twice); Herald, s.s., 356; Corinna. s.s., 80; Flora, s.s.. 833; Taviuni, s.s., 910; "Westralia, s.s., 1819;— total, 6738. Departures: Tutanekai, s.s., 412; Talune, s.s., 1303; Tarawera, s.s., 1269; Hawea, s.s., 1114; Mararoa, s.s.. 1381; Napier, s.s., 48; Rimu, s.s., 143; Beautiful Star, s.s., 146 (twice); Corinna, s.s., 820; Janet Nicoll, s.s., 496; Flora, s.s., 838;— total, 8136 tons. The Shire line steamer Perthshire, which left Lyttelton on the 10th inst. for London, via Laa Palmas, took the following general cargo: —l62s bales wool, 166 do rabbitskins, 31 do sheepskins, 119 casks pelts, 23 do casings, 11 bales basils, 13 do leather, 5 do hair, 1056 casks tallow, 2 bales glue pieces, 3054 cases meats, 130 casks oiline, 11,797 sacks oats, 1 rask hides, 119 pkgs zinc ash, 1 case mats, 14. cases sundries; together with the following frozen carg0: —53,253 carcases mutton. 7747 hindquarters beef, 3794 forequarters do, 1381 haunches mutton, 96 bdls do, 5054 oases rabbits, 200-do kidneys, 200 do sheeps' frys, 38 do plucks, and 99 ox tails. Her cargo irorn this port consisted of 19,680 frozen ?!iocp. 160 pieces beef, 1999 cases rabbits, 204 balei wool, 166 do rabbitskins, 20 do sheepskins, 27 casks pelts, 10 do casings, 11 bales basils, 13 do leather, 3 do hair, 173 casks tallow, 2 bales cflue pieces, 2466 Hacks oats, and 12 casei sundries. The Gothic, from Wellington (July 7), left Rio on the morning of the 12th inst., with her meat in good order. The Government steamer s.s. Hinamoa will call at Port Chalmers on or about Monday, 21st insfc., to take stores for Taiaroa Head, Waipapapa Point, Dog Island. Centre Island, and Puysegur Point.
