MULTIFORM IN ENGLAND.

The Sportsman's special writes : The New Zealand four-year-old Multiform has arrived safely in England and reached Newmarket. For the present he is at Mr Leach's stables, where, I have moro than once seen him, and though ho has had a bad time on the voyage it is easy to understand, even after a casual glance at him, that ho is a genuine champion wherever, he mivy go. A lengthy, bloodlike bay horeo, with the best of shoulders, great width to follow, and all the quality of the best Englishhred ones. Multiform, who is now the property of Sir Edgar Vincent, is by Hotchkiss (son of Musket) out of Formo, by Sterlingworth out of Pulchra, by Rosicrucian out of Formosa, winner of the Oaks, etc. Since his two-year-old days he has never been beaten either in publio or private, and he never knew defeat as a two-year-old except when allowing a stable companion to win. Multiform is believed in New Zealand to be by far the best horse they have ever bred since Cabine, and his late owner, Mr Stead, declares that oven Carbine, had it been possible to bring them together, would have gone down before him. When Aurum was carrying all before him in Australia, Multiform was doing the same in New Zealand, and very large sums were offered in both countries for a race in which the two champions should meet, but it could not be arranged. Multiform has won 16 races, and the last two were secured after his purchase, which was, however, conditional on the buyer having his option to refuse him if ho did not win them both in a canter and pass the vet. afterwards. He fulfilled these conditions readily enough, and shortly afterwards was despatched from New Zealand, to the great regret of all the horse-loving community out there. Mr Stead even offered £500 at the last moment to cancel the sale. The hor?e was bad with colio on the voyage, and from TenerifFo camp the cable message to the effect that he was ill and should be met at Plymouth, where, to the relief of all concerned, it was found he was all right again, though for many days he had been able to take nothing but gruel. At present he is very rapidly convalescing and eating with ze3t, though of course he is looking very light, in addition to having scrubbed hair off on various parts of his body.
