CROMWELL JOCKEY CLUB,
At the adjourned iinnual meeting the treaBurer, Mr J. W. Perriam, reported that up to date the club had 37 members. The elec"tion of office-bearers resulted as follows: — President, Mr D. A. Jolly, vice-president, Mr John Kane; Mr J. W. Perriam was elected treasurer ; Mr James Marshall was appointed secretary at a salary- of £10 ; Mr G. H. Stephenson was elected auditor; Mr B Jolly, clerk of the scales ; Mr A. M'Donald, judge ; Mr Perriam, starter; Mr A. Harris, clerk of the course ; Mr Warhurton, clerk of the totalisator; Messrs M'Nulty and Tillman, timekeepers; Mr John Wright&on was appointed handicapper at a salary of seven guineas. The Argus reports that a long discussion took Elace on the proposal to take over the liailities of the racecourse trust, upon that body handing over tc the club the gate money until such time a« the club was clear of liabilities. All those who spoke were in favour of the proposal. At last it was resolved — "That the club accept the proposals made by the racecourse trust as embodied in the draft agreement." Mr Perriain proposed, and Mr Holden seconded— "That the secretary write to the hotel proprietors requesting them to tender for tbe privilege of having the meetings held at tfajair houses, the money ■paid to go to the petty cash account."
