CANTERBURY AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE.

"We are indebted to Mr Bayne, the director of the Canterbury Agricultural College fbr fh'e following resultsof two experiments conducted at the college during the two past years to find out which is the best kind of ram to put to crossbred ewes to obtain, the best fat lambs for freezing. - , FAT LAMB EXPERIMENT, 1897-IS3B. Fifty cross Fred ewes (originally from -merino ewes, Border Leicester blood predegninat- - ing) were put to each ram. The lambs were shipped to England in tw6~consignments. The first consignment was sold in London on the 3rd may, the second consignment on the Ist and 13th. July, 1898.

Fifty crossbred ewes (originally from merino ewes, Border Leicester blood predominating) were put to each of the following rains : — Border Leicester, English Leicester, Shropshire, and Southdown. The lambs were sold at the Addington Yards, Christchurch. The following are the results of the experiment (tables 1, 2, 3, and 4) : —
