Rongahere Again. TO THE EDITOR.
Sir,— ln justice to the two ladies who assisted at the cleaning of the school, I may state that the work was purely voluntary. The only order I gave was to a member of my family who was present, and that was to get me a bucket with hot water. The school was all right at 5 p.m. on the evening of the teacher's arrival. I called at her 'lodging about 9 o'clock, and met her at the school about 9 o'clock next morning, accompanied by her landlady, who '-ailed my attention to the door and windows, X made a careful inspection, but could find i... clue that was likely to lead to the detection of the culprit. As luck would have it, only three scholars put in an appearance, so the affair did not cause the sensation evidently intended. I may also state that no member of the committee has by word or action shown any hostility to tho teacher, and so far as I can judge the feelings of the people of the district, it will be as well if the perpetrator of the dirty act can keep his secret, and grin with satisfaction at having successfully planned and carried out one of the most unmanly deeds ever committed in the southern hemisphere. — J am, etc., THE CHAIRMAN OF THE SCHOOL COM-
MITTEE. Rongahere, July 17.
