WEEKLY MARKET REPORT.
Messrs Moritzson and Hopkin report for week ending July 19 : — Wheat: There is a fair demand for prime samples, while obher descriptions have had rather better inquiry. The demand for fowl feed is active. We quote : Best velvet, 2s 6d to 2s 7d; medium, 2s 4d to 2s sd; best Tuscan, 2s 6d to 2s 7d; medium, 2s 3d to 2s sd; fowl wheat, Is lOd to 2s. Oats: The demand is strong for best feed, but other sorts have poor attention. We qiiote: Best feed, Is 3£d to Is 4d; medium and inferior, Is 2d to Is 3d per bushel; Sutherlands, Is 5d to Is 5Jd. Barley : There is very little business doing in this. Feed sorts are quoted at Is 6d to Is 9d; milling, Is lOd to 2s; prime malting, 2s 9d to 3s 4d ; medium, 2s 4d to 2s Bd. Ryecorn, nominally, 2s to 2ls 6d. Flour : We quote £6 10s. Oatmeal in 25's, £8. Pearl barley, £12. Bran, £3. Pollard, £3 10s. Nelson hops are quoted at 8d to lid (f.0.b.). Chaff: Has rather more inquiry, especially "prime oaten. Prime, £2 7s 6d ; medium, 37s 6d to 455. Ryegrass : There is a much better demand,, but not many sales are being made, as farmers are inclined to hold in the meantime, to se3 if prices will improve. Buyers' ideas of values are from Is Gd to Is 9d for ordinary farmers' dressed seed, and up to 2s for exceptionally good samples. We quote: Farmers' dressed, Is 3d to Is 9d ; machined, 2s 6d to 3a. Cocksfoot, 3id to 4d for farmers' lots, and 4Jd to 5d for machined. Linseed, £10. Pressed straw, 255. Clover hay, £3 to £3 10s. Nitrate of soda, £15. Clovers, rape, etc., all fresh. We can offer all classes of seeds pure and fresh.
Potatoes. — Arrivals have been light, but prices show no improvement. Kidney^, almost unsaleable ; Derwents, 27s 6d to 30s per ton.
Hides, 2Jd to 4Jd, according to weight and condition. We have a special inquiry, and can guarantee top prices.' Tallow: Rough fat, 9s to lls; rendered, 10s 6d to 15s, according to quality. Horsehair, Is 2d to Is 4d.
Sheepskins. — We. offered a large catalogue at our usual sale on Tuesday. Competition was very active, and prices ruled firm at late advance. Fine-woolled skins were in special request, and brought extreme prices. Green crossbreds sold from 3s 6d to 4s 3d ; dry crossbreds, 2s 3d to 5s Gd ; merino, 2s 4d to 5s 6d ; pelts, 6d to Is 9d. We sell by auction every Tuesday.
Rabbitskins. — We offered a good catalogue xhis week. Competition was keen, but price 3 showed a further fall of Id to- 2d per lb. We sold autumns and incomings from 12d to 16d per lb ; summers, from 9d to 13Jd and small from 4d to 7d per lb; winters, 20d to 22d; 23d. We undertake country clearing sales.
FRUIT AND r-RODUCE EEPORT.
Butter cases with parchment, 18s per dozen
Butter. — The demand for all kinds of butter is very quiet, and only small orders are coming in. We quote, nominally: No. 1 grade, 7d; No. 2, 6d ; No. 3, sd ; with very little inquiry. Pigs. — For good quality, 4£d to 4id.
Poultry received for' sale any day. Roosters, X 2s 9d to 3s ; hens, 2s 3d to 2s 6d ; ducks, 3s 6d to 4s 6d per pair. These quotations are for prime quality.
